How to Solve the Problem of No Root on Lollipop

$

0

Go to ebay and buy a Hudl2 running Kitkat (you can ask the seller what version it's running, or spot the KK home button in the photos).

Root it using the tethered recovery method.

Reboot and avoid updating now and forever using this method.

Use Titanium or whatever to uninstall Tesco bloatware. Don't worry about the consequences because there won't be any other updates or changes that you'll ever want.

Sell your Lollipop Hudl2 on ebay for roughly the same price as you bought the other one for.

Enjoy your Kitkat rooted Hudl for the rest of yer natural, or until Google moves on so far that nothing is supported any more . . .

Hi,

I was hoping that someone could help me out please.  I bought a 2nd hand hudl2 with a broken screen and fixed the screen.  When it boots up I get this error that I've attached.  It say 'ME FW Update Failed, please try again!'.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please on how to resolve this please.

Thanks.

I'm on talktalk 76mbs.

Connecting it to my laptop via ethernet gives me full speed  using my hudl 2 and running a speed test gives me a max of 30mbs.

Should I expect more than this please?

Hudl 2 stuck on hudl star screen

I was charging my  hudl 2.  Then i turned it on. It was on lock screen  and then suddenly  shut down.  I restarted  it  but it is still stuck . I then checked the recover logs and there was something  about low level memory corruption . Then I cleared cache partition. Still hasn't turned on

Battery error issue

My hudl 2 was displaying the orange battery with an exclamation point in it symbol so first I replaced the battery, this didn't solve anything. Now I've replaced the motherboard and the issue is still there, according to the seller I bought the board from it's tested as working so unless they're lying to me I don't understand what the issue could be. If I hold the power button for a few seconds so it turns off I can turn it on again and it'll get to the hudl logo and then turn off and show the battery symbol again.

Anyone got any ideas for what's wrong here because I am confused as to what the issue could be?

hello , my daughters hudl2 crashed yesterday and rebooted to the error screen i finally managed to get it to power back up and done a factory reset. and seems fine apart from when on charge it says not charging and battery level is at -1.

the red led is lit showing it is charging but the error remains.

I have checked for updates and there is none.

is there a way i could copy my system on my tablet to hers? and see if that would fix it.

thanks

I don't want to update yet until some of the issues have been sorted. How do I get rid of the star and the notifications to update?

I managed this on my android phone, but the option to disable hudl updates is greyed out.

Another dead Hudl 2

With no warning my Hudl 2 appears to have died with a blanj screen and no charge light.
Pressing the power and volume buttons in various combinations has no effect.
With the back off the battery shows around 3.8V which is the nominl voltage printed on it and
this does go up if the charger (which works with my phone) is attached.
I have also disconnected the battery to perform a hard reset.

My thinking is that either the mother board or the screen is faulty so my question is whether the red charge light being off would indicate that the board is the culprit.

Hudl help please

I have a Hudl 2 and have just put in a new battery. Since then every time I switch it on it goes to the reboot screen not directly to the proper start up screen. I have tried factory resets twice but it is still happening. It isn't a problem for me to get to the start up screen but it is annoying especially as my husband uses it and he can't deal with the reboot

Stuck on Android logo

I've searched to no avail - hope this isnt a question which has already been answered :)

So, I tried to be clever - a few days after rooting I noticed the option in Titanium Backup to integrate updates to system apps back into the ROM.... I would suggest that you don't do that - with Google Play services in particular!

I now get to the "Powered by Android" screen or stock recovery only.

Stock recovery isn't able to flash any of the pre-rooted images I downloaded because they aren't signed - I can't reboot into tethered recovery because it seems that the device hasn't booted far enough to allow adb to control it (I just see the generic microsoft MTP driver - I can see and not modify).

Any help gratefully received :)

Hudl2 - dead?

Hi there,

I seem to have problems charging up/powering on my Hudl2, I turned it on Saturday night (unsure of battery percentage at this point) and it started booting as normal but it switched off itself when it got the 'Powered by Android' screen. I thought maybe it did need a charge so plugged it in and left it but the red light did not appear at all.  I have since tried various combinations of chargers and resetting methods (reset and factory reset) and have had no luck.  The factory reset menu doesn't even come up - it just seems like there is no life at all to it. The only thing I could think is maybe its a screen issue? I did get a few weird lines appear intermittently at the top recently when running a few things on it at the same time but the tablet itself has been well looked after so not sure why the screen would do this.

I bought my tablet second hand with a 24 month warranty through a high street retailer (thankfully) but before returning I just wanted to check on here if anyone has had similar issues and can provide any suggestions on how to fix?

Bootloader unlocking

Thought I'd start a thread about it but anyone experimented with this yet? What happens when trying to get into fastboot to do it like with the tegra tablets it just took the line fastboot OEM unlock to do it.

I'm gonna mess around with my fastboot see where I can get since there's not many devs yet for the hudl so I'll play my part too.

found hudl2 compatible flash tool via fastboot

I also have an Idea how to do full backup of existing partitions, possibly compare MD5 of flash and backup.

Needs a full backup before I sacrifice my Hudl2.

Next android studio has 64 bit baytrail atom images, a look in existing firmware files at drivers would give possibility of custom roms and 64 bit lollipop

Factory resetted hudl2 stuck at "Select Wi-Fi", but Wi-Fi is off

Hi,

After factory reset my hudl2 stops at the "Select Wi-Fi" page, but I can't select a network, because wifi is switched off. There is no any control how to switch it on. And I can't move away from this page. What should I do now? Can I switch on Wifi in the recovery or over adb? If not, is it possible to get over this Select wifi page?

Thanks

HUDL damaged, what's a current equivalent tablet?

Hi there,

After a pet-related accident my HUDL2 is behaving erratically and is on it's way out.

I like the HUDL as a 'take-anywhere' inexpensive tablet that performs really, really well.

What would you guys buy as an equivalent 'excellent-but-inexpensive' replacement that's a current-year release?

[edit] My main 'like' of the HUDL 2 is it's solid construction. I'm happy letting a gang of small kids use it, but not so much my Tab S2. I use it for media consumption as opposed to 3D gaming, for which purpose it excels. I also like it's micro HDMI ouput, which frees the USB port for charging. I also like it's strong sound output. This betters any Samsung offering [/edit]

TIA,

Sullivan

Hudl 2 charging problems

My Hudl 2 is taking several days to charge!  I am using the original charger and cable and installed Battery Monitor Widget to see what was going on.  The ma flow is constantly red and showing minus figures and I often get the message about "insufficient power to charge device".  I did not have this problem before I made the mistake of upgrading the o/s to Lollipop.  If there was a way to return it to KitKat - I would do it, but I believe even a factory reset will not achieve this.  Should I buy a new charge and cable - if so, does it have to be the Tesco one or will another brand suffice.

Would appreciate any advice.  I loved my Hudl when I first had it but I have had nothing but grief since upgrading it.  I swear I can see the battery actually draining when I am using it!  I have trawled various websites and made all sorts of recommendated changes to preserve battery life but I think Lollipop is just a disaster in this respect.

Boot Loop No Recovery

Got this hudl 2 today with the description stating it gets stuck on the android loading screen (powered by android), it turns on and gets to the screen then reboots and reboots and reboots,

Tried to enter recovery, doesn't happen just reboots as above (holding vol+ and power when off)  , seems like it's gone, guessing rooted, removed system apps then factory reset which is now left it where it is.

Nothing can be done correct?
